  • The Director of Source to Pay (S2P) will lead the transformation and digitization of procurement processes at American Airlines, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and strategic value. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in procurement transformation, digital tools (especially Coupa), data analytics, continuous process improvement, and team leadership.

What you'll do


  • Develop and Implement S2P Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute a comprehensive S2P strategy that aligns with organizational goals and market trends.

  • Lead Procurement S2P Transformation: Drive initiatives to modernize procurement processes, emphasizing digitization and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Utilize Data Analytics: Leverage data analytics to gain insights into procurement activities, identify opportunities for improvement, and support decision-making processes.

  • Lead and Develop Teams: Provide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and high performance.

  • Ability to thoroughly evaluate current state operations to identify gaps in processes compared to industry standards.

  • Ensure Compliance and Risk Management: Oversee compliance with procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management strategies to protect the organization’s interests.

All you'll need for successMinimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in business or related fields, or eight years of experience in procurement, supply chain or related area. Master’s degree in supply chain management/business (or equivalent) preferred.

  • At least 10 years of experience in S2P / purchasing / procurement process management and improvement, with a preference for experience in Airline industries with strong commercial exposure and understanding.

  • Full life-cycle S2P design and implementation experience, including project management, process design, professional development / training, and change management.

  • Experience leading a procurement organization and maturing company-wide S2P processes (i.e., designing and deploying new processes and technology, executing a people development strategy). Any relevant certifications in the area of procurement and supply chain (CPIM / CSCP / CPSM / CIPS) is a plus.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams toward achieving strategic objectives.

  • Analytical Thinking: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.

  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage large-scale projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation.

  • Technological Proficiency: Deep understanding of procurement technologies and the ability to leverage them for process improvement.

  • Change Management: Experience in leading change initiatives and managing the associated challenges.

  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting.

  • Travel is required less than 10% of the time.
