Job description: Job Description:Transition SpecialistBlue Ridge Juvenile Center Education Program2025-26 School YearFull-Time- 11 months (240 days)/yearThe Blue Ridge Juvenile Center Education Program is seeking a Transition Specialist for the 2025-26 School Year.Candidates must hold a valid collegiate or postgraduate professional license in Special Education and demonstrate a strong commitment to working with at-risk youth.Ideal candidates will have:

• A deep understanding of trauma-informed care in the classroom.

• Experience differentiating instruction in multi-grade level settings.

• A passion for supporting students’ academic, vocational, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• STC Coordinator – Oversee the coordination, administration, and proctoring of Standards of Learning (SOL) testing.

• Vocational Coordinator – Develop, implement, and manage daily vocational learning activities and certification programs.

• Literacy Coordinator – Lead the STAR literacy program and oversee library services.

• GED Coordinator – Collaborate with the principal to implement GED program components, schedule exams, and coordinate testing dates.

• CPP/CAP Coordinator – Provide case-management-style educational and support services for youth in DJJ custody.

• Academic Support – Assist students in improving their academic performance through group and one-on-one instruction.
