This individual should also have the ability to connect the dots from strategic thinking and planning through to on the ground execution, coordinating across R&D to ensure that outcomes are measured, governed, and associated process and QA infrastructure continues to improve.In this role you will work closely with a talented group of function and automation QA engineers, engineering managers, product managers, and several engineers to continuously identify opportunities for improvement and implement your strategic vision for quality at Payscale. We also believe in providing a lot of autonomy and transparency to our teams, but rely on said data driven, objective governance to keep us accountable and on track.In this role you’ll have direct management over a large, distributed QA Engineering team, who will subsequently have dotted line relationships into the engineering managers for the teams where they are doing their day-to-day work. - Define and maintain a long-term QA strategy and associated roadmap that aligns with business objectives and vision.
 - Manage and direct all resources related to QA including but not limited to functional QA, QA automation, performance testing, and data quality testing.
 - Align stakeholders on priorities and relative investment in QA initiatives.
 - Work with the Engineering team to define and implement necessary metrics/KPIs and associated governance.
 - Manage the process for how functional testing is integrated into the SDLC, ensuring enough flexibility to remain agile while also having enough structure to enable uniform governance.
 - Assist in the management of product releases to ensure consistent UAT and post-release quality governance.
 - Stay informed on Payscale's strategic roadmap as a means to understand what areas would likely require more complex QA approaches or present a liability.
 - Work with vendors and partners to identify economies of scale and ways we can enhance our quality posture at scale.
 - Work with program management and product operations to ensure smooth QA operational execution across R&D, leveraging automation where possible to enable QA process scalability.
 - Other duties as may be assigned by the Company from time to time.
 
- A MS/BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is highly desired
 
- 10+ years’ experience in a strategic QA leadership role
 - Experience building and managing QA teams, both functional and automated
 - Experience with Agile and/or Lean processes
 
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
 - An understanding of technology used in full stack web development.
 - Detail-oriented personality complimented by strong analytical skills.
 - Above excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
 - Experience managing and/or leading a team
 - Ability to problem solve and present solutions
 - Excellent organizational and planning skills
 - Demonstrated effectiveness working across multiple R&D units to achieve results
 - Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, innovative, and rapidly evolving industry and business organization
 - Proven track record of managing all aspects of a quality throughout the SDLC
 - Solid technical background with an understanding of software development and web technologies
 - Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams with a wide range of skills and objectives
 - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills must be able to build trust as well as internal and external relationships
