Checkr has been recognized as one of and is a Y Combinator 2023 and .As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on the ML & AI engineering team at Checkr you will be responsible for building and managing end-to-end, cutting edge ML application systems to contribute to Checkr top strategic goals. You will work closely with other engineering and product teams to implement the best algorithms and processes at scale across Checkr services.What you'll do
- Develop Cutting-Edge ML/AI Solutions: Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy innovative ML/AI models and algorithms.
- Ship ML/AI in Product: Partner with product teams to embed and scale ML/AI capabilities within our external product offerings, ensuring state-of-the-art technology is seamlessly integrated to provide tangible value to our users.
- Model Evaluation and Optimization: Fully own the performance of machine learning models, iterating and optimizing them for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various stakeholders, including data scientists, software developers, and product managers, to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Stay Ahead of Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and related fields, championing innovation and applying cutting-edge techniques to solve complex problems.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Educational background: BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field, providing a strong foundation in technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
- Industry experience: 7+ years, especially in roles focused on machine learning.
- Production-ready ML/NLP systems: Experience building ML/NLP systems ready for production, demonstrating expertise in natural language processing.
- Programming skills: Proficiency in Python, enabling seamless implementation and integration of your solutions.
- ML frameworks: Hands-on experience building and designing experiments to evaluate different ML/AI algorithms ( including deep learning ) is a plus. Knowledge of PySpark and MLOps frameworks like SageMaker and MLFlow is also a plus.
- GenAI: Knowledge of generative AI, fine-tuning, and AI design patterns is a plus
- Data manipulation and analysis: Proficiency with Pandas and sci-kit learn, essential for data preprocessing and model evaluation.
