Job description: JOB TITLE : Sr. SDET - Data Quality EngineerJOB SUMMARY

As a Senior SDET – Data Quality Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain automated data validation frameworks and pipelines. You will work closely with data engineers, software developers, QA, DevOps, and compliance teams to embed robust data quality checks into our data ecosystem. This is a senior, hands-on role that demands technical expertise in automation, data engineering, and SDET best practices.You’ll champion data testing in a highly regulated environment, enabling data-driven decision-making that is both trustworthy and compliant.ESSENTIAL DUTIES


  • Architect and implement automated test frameworks to validate batch and streaming data pipelines (ETL/ELT).

  • Build scalable test harnesses to validate schema changes, data transformations, data lineage, and anomaly detection.

  • Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end tests for data ingestion and processing workflows.

  • Integrate data quality checks into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps) and orchestrators (e.g., ADF, Databricks Jobs).

  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and QA to define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and quality gates for data pipelines.

  • Create reusable components for synthetic data generation, mocking, and negative testing scenarios.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot failures in automated data tests, collaborating to resolve root causes quickly.

  • Maintain high standards for data integrity across internal and external datasets used for analytics, ML, and reporting.

  • Ensure testing strategies comply with regulatory standards like HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11.

  • Contribute to documentation, training, and evangelism around data quality engineering practices across teams.

  • Experience with data observability and monitoring tools

  • Familiarity with data governance tools like Unity Catalog, Informatica

  • Knowledge of healthcare data formats such as FHIR, HL7, or clinical trial datasets.

  • Exposure to performance/load testing for large-scale data systems.

  • Provide organizational mentorship on data quality usage and implementation

  • Share expertise on best practices in data quality engineering

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in test automation, data engineering, or SDET roles.

  • Deep hands-on experience with Python and SQL for test scripting and data validation.

  • Strong experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest, unittest, TerraTes, ) and data quality libraries (e.g., Great Expectations, Soda, Deequ).

  • Solid understanding of cloud-based data platforms (preferably Azure, Databricks, Delta Lake, ADLS, ADF).

  • Proven track record building CI/CD pipelines for test automation in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar.

  • Proficiency in version control (Git), containerized testing (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code basics (Terraform or ARM templates).

  • Experience testing healthcare or regulated systems (medical devices, pharma, etc.) with understanding of compliance needs.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field or, equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
