We are looking for a strategic thinker with a strong background in educational assessment who is ready to lead division-wide efforts in data analysis, testing coordination, and instructional impact.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The Assessment Coordinator is responsible for implementing the local, state, and national testing systems for Montgomery County Public Schools; directing, evaluating, and continuously revising the division's testing methods and procedures to provide the information and structural processes necessary to develop and maintain high-quality educational programs. - Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required
- A combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
- (Preferred)
- Experience with administering State and National testing, including Virginia SOL testing
- Experience working with PowerSchool Student Information System
- Valid Virginia Educator’s Professional Certificate
- Master’s Degree in Education or Related Field
- Provide leadership in the administration of national, state, and local assessments
- Analyze and communicate test results to identify strengths and weaknesses in instructional programs and to determine priority areas for improvement
- Assist in interpreting federal guidelines for ESSA to ensure proper test administration and accurate analysis of test results
- Serve a lead role in developing a balanced assessment system to accurately measure student mastery of content knowledge and 21st-century skills
- Act as a liaison to the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), scoring vendors, other school divisions, and internal departments and schools on matters related to testing
- Oversee the continuation of online SOL testing across all schools and alternative private placements
- Provide oversight and coordination of English as a Second Language (ESL) screening and testing to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Communicate test administration guidelines and the appropriate use of test results to various stakeholders
- Provide training to administrators, school improvement specialists, and school testing staff on test administration, test security, and data interpretation
- Offer leadership and guidance to school test coordinators
- Order and manage all testing materials
- Maintain testing material security and enforce protocols to prevent breaches
- Develop and prepare training materials for each test administration
- Respond to inquiries from school administrators regarding assessment results and testing procedures
- Provide technical assistance to administrators and school staff on testing processes.
- Attend state-provided test administration training and develop local procedures to ensure full compliance with state mandate.
- Oversee Remote Testing Learner’s Permit testing through the Virginia Department of Transportation
- Collaborate with the Department of Technology to ensure accurate data uploads and availability to support continuous improvement
- Collaborate with the Special Education Department to ensure accommodations are appropriately applied to testing sessions and local/state guidelines are followed for the LAVC/SPLAVC (credit accommodations)
- Lead the creation of user-friendly reports to help central office staff, school administrators, and teachers analyze and interpret assessment data
- Demonstrate expertise in school administration, educational trends, and compliance with federal, state, and local education laws and policies
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply or ensure compliance with School Board policies, procedures, and mandates
- Attention to detail
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, departments, and the community
- Effectively communicate and present information orally and in writing to various audiences
- Design, manage, and evaluate assessment-related projects using data analysis, technology, and research-based methods
