In addition to the Interfaith Lecture Series in the Hall of Philosophy and daily worship in the Amphitheater, there are 18 institutional faith communities and religious organizations active on the grounds.About Your CompensationThe compensation for this is $17.50/HourAbout Your Work DayThe Lecture Assistant's work will be organized into three primary areas, with other duties as assigned. The work of the Department of Religion is wide-ranging, and this position will focus primarily on the Interfaith Lecture Series offered by the Department every weekday. Work responsibilities will be divided approximately as follows:

• Providing administrative coordination and support to the Vice President for the Interfaith Lecture Series


• Performing background research and preparing introductory remarks for each program inside Chautauqua’s Interfaith Lecture Series, along with other special lecture programs throughout the summer season as needed


• Working closely with Chautauqua staff in providing itineraries for speakers


• Serving as representative/ambassador for Chautauqua and the Department of Religion as needed by greeting and shepherding speakers throughout the Chautauqua grounds to and from programs and accommodations on the grounds


• Providing support during each 2:00 pm Interfaith lecture by assisting in the process of audience Q&A, helping field questions from audience members and Amphitheater ushers, sorting and delivering to moderator, supporting book signings as needed


• Assisting in administrative support systems such as ArtsVision (a calendaring system used for Institution scheduling) and maintaining various department spreadsheets

About the Referral ProgramChautauqua Institution’s is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August.About Your ScheduleChautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond the season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:Will be scheduled to work an average of 40 hours/week. Scheduled hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.A regular gate pass and parking permit will be provided.About Living on the GroundsChautauqua Institution may provide limited housing options on our grounds or assist you with locating nearby housing arrangements for select opportunities based on business needs. Housing is not an option for many positions and may be of a cost to you.
