Job description: SummaryAbout the position: This position will be assigned to the Child Development Center on Holloman AFB in New Mexico.This is a flexible position (0-40 Hours Per Week).Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend may be needed as mission requires.Physical Effort: Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. - Accepting applications
- Assists in preparation of meals in accordance with USAFA menu guidelines.
- Serves food family style.
- Sets up classroom food carts for meal and snack service
- delivers food to classrooms in appropriate timeframes.
- Sets up and operates dishwashers, performs preventive maintenance and cleaning.
- Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs bowls, pots and pans.
- Performs heavy duty cleaning tasks such as ceilings, exhaust hoods, under and behind kitchen equipment, washes floors and walls, refrigerators and freezers, and sanitizes garbage cans.
- May unload food from delivery trucks.
- Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area.
- Assembles meal items in quantity
- Portions food to each room based on number of children in attendance and required portion sizes.
- Distributes food substitutions to classrooms as needed for children with food allergies.
- Works cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and appropriate meal services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent to work shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to position.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.
- This position requires the incumbent to meet the 3-year residency requirement to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and network access.
- Must be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.
- Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgement in sequencing tasks.
- Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area.
- Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

- A probationary period may be required.
- Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
