This position can also be located at any of the GFT Texas offices. ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:this Entry Civil Engineer will join our growing office of roadway, rail, intermodal designers and construction inspectors as an entry level engineer. This person will be a member of our highway division and will assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculations, geometric design, pavement marking/signing, drainage design, traffic studies, traffic signal design, public involvement, report writing, specifications, cost estimates, roadway lighting, and other related tasks. The individual may also be called on to work closely with other teams on multi-disciplinary projects. The engineer will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a unique and dynamic work environment.In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Analyzes information and data to perform routine design tasks.
- Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
- Research design options and document findings.
- Responsible as a member of the design them for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
- Researches code requirements.
- Prepares environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.
- Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals.
- May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited program
- Ability to obtain Fundamentals of Engineering registration within 1 year
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
- EIT
- Previous internship experience in roadway, rail, drainage, and/or construction inspection
- Geopak and/or Microstation working knowledge
- No relocation or stipend assistance
