Job description: Alternate Locations: Radnor, PA (Pennsylvania)Work Arrangement:Hybrid Preferred : Preferred employee will work 3 days a week in a Lincoln officeRelocation assistance: is not available for this opportunity.Requisition #: 74398The Role at a GlanceThe Investment Analyst on the Manager Selection and Portfolio Construction Team is a key contributor to the research and due diligence efforts across Lincoln Funds Management team's manager of manager's platform which includes public fixed income, public equity, and alternative strategies. You will be part of a team responsible for providing investment expertise and insights regarding the selection, oversight, placement, and termination of asset managers across Lincoln's product lines including Annuities, Life, and Retirement Plan Services. You will be part of a team who oversees assets totaling $174B, $92B of which is Lincoln's proprietary variable insurance trust mutual funds. You will regularly interact with senior management, Lincoln Variable Insurance Product Trust (LVIP) Board of Trustees, and Lincoln's internal clients.Reporting StructureReports to Vice President & Managing Director, Head of Fixed Income and International Equity Manager ResearchWhat you'll be doingResearch and Analysis
- As a member of the Research team, this position will have a supporting role regarding the selection, oversight, placement, and termination of new and existing investment strategies offered in Lincoln Annuity, Life, and Retirement products.
- Conduct regular due diligence meetings with investment managers, usually alongside the Portfolio Managers on the Funds Management team, in the selection and ongoing monitoring process to ensure that funds are managed in accordance with the stated investment process and investment thesis, and in line with market conditions.
- Regularly present research findings and performance results to the Manager Selection Team and potentially a broader group of constituents, such as the LVIP Board of Trustees and other internal clients.
- Recommend changes and/or actions, as appropriate, to further the objectives of Funds Management and Lincoln's product lines.
- Provide competitive intelligence, analysis, and comparisons on an ongoing basis.
- Provide research support to various thought leadership research projects that are undertaken within Funds management.
- Provide thought leadership support on investment strategies/market trends/investment themes through regular interaction with the Client Investment Strategies Team (CIS) and Lincoln Financial Distributors Team (LFD).
- Use core analytical tools, both internal and external (e.g. Morningstar, FactSet, Backstop), that are used by the Funds Management teams.
- Help design and maintain portfolio analytics, risk reports, performance attribution, stress testing, etc. for the investment strategies.
- Interact with external asset managers, including optimally leveraging their investment expertise, thought leadership, and best ideas while understanding Lincoln's overall strategy and the feasibility of various strategies and positions within Lincoln's business lines.
- Work with other teams within Funds Management, including manager selection, multi-asset, strategy & analytics, operation, accounting, compliance, legal, broad Lincoln Investment Hedging & Sustainability team, and Lincoln business lines.
- Direct and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within the Funds Management Team.
- 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree required. CFA and/or MBA preferred.
- 3-5+ years of experience in Financial Services with primary background in investment analysis, within the following asset classes: domestic and global fixed income, domestic and international equities, money market and financial derivatives.
- Experience in manager selection, portfolio construction, asset allocation, or risk management.
- Experience in mutual funds.
- Experience in manager/fund research and risk analytical tools (e.g. Morningstar, Lipper, FactSet, eVestment, Barra, Aladdin, or other similar tools).
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint with ability to illustrate complicated information succinctly in slides and charts for the benefit of senior management.
- Demonstrated strength in written and oral communication. Ability to communicate investment concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrate strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers, and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
- Demonstrates strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations. Work hard and strive for excellence.
- Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distraction.
Expected salary: $69000 - 124600 per year
