In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting safe, cost-effective prescribing practices by educating healthcare providers on the appropriate utilization of medications based on Medicaid guidelines and clinical criteria.You’ll have the opportunity to engage directly with prescribers and dispensers, discuss prescribing and dispensing trends, provide valuable information, answer questions, and build trusted, professional relationships with providers. This position offers the flexibility of working from your home office, combined with local travel within the assigned region. All travel expenses—including mileage and parking—will be reimbursed.If you're passionate about improving healthcare outcomes and enjoy working in a collaborative, educational role, we invite you to explore this exciting opportunity with Acentra Health.Job ResponsibilitiesConduct educational outreach to healthcare professionals across the assigned region, fostering awareness of Medicaid pharmacy initiatives.Provide guidance to prescribers on the appropriate and cost-effective use of medications.Educate both prescribers and pharmacists on Alabama Medicaid Pharmacy ALERTs, updates, and relevant program guidelines.Analyze and develop a strong understanding of Alabama Medicaid prescribing trends and patterns.Reviewing the proper completion and submission of Alabama Medicaid Prior Authorization (PA) request forms and Pharmacy Override forms to ensure accuracy and compliance.Present and review individualized Physician Summary Reports with prescribers to support improved prescribing practices.Document outcomes and key takeaways from each provider visit in a timely and accurate manner.Respond promptly and professionally to provider inquiries and support requests outside of scheduled visits.Actively participate in quarterly team meetings and ongoing training sessions to stay informed and aligned with program goals. - Bachelor’s degree required; experience in customer service, sales, pharmaceutical detailing, or healthcare outreach strongly preferred.
- Must reside within Alabama and the designated region and be familiar with the local healthcare landscape.
- Ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory; must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with current medications, therapeutic drug classes, and Alabama Medicaid guidelines is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to individuals and groups across verbal, written, and electronic platforms.
- Comfortable delivering presentations and engaging persuasively with healthcare professionals.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams); experience with SharePoint and other web-based tools is a plus.
- Demonstrates a proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving and follow-through.
