These candidate must be dedicated to teaching, collaboration and serving our communities. One position is in Battle Creek (OB optional) and the other is with OB in Kalamazoo.Our Battle Creek 6-6-6 program launched in 2019 with tremendous community support. Its outpatient clinic is in a beautiful Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The faculty are encouraged to follow their passions and current faculty excel in POCUS, MSK USN, Lifestyle Medicine, Hospital Medicine, MOUD, Hepatitis C and skin care. Known as “Cereal City, USA”, Battle Creek is a vibrant, diverse, well-resourced area.Our dually accredited ACGME/AOA 9-9-9 Kalamazoo-based residency is housed in our new 20 room clinic with departmental offices ideally located to serve our diverse community. We are excited and proud of our department’s street medicine program, OMM clinic, gender affirming care clinic, skin and procedures clinic, sports medicine and palliative care fellowships, and a substance use disorders clinic started in the fall of 2024, adding to our continuity clinic.The DFCM is expanding and supports individual faculty interests and their skillsets. Current Medical License in the state of Michigan

Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.

- Outpatient care and supervision of residents.
 - Cover precepting, inpatient and newborn services, (OB in Kalamazoo).
 - Recruitment, supervision, education, and assessment of resident physicians.
 - Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, and outcomes management.
 - Opportunity to participate and lead in committees and initiatives with our partners.
 - Provide high-quality instruction for undergraduate and graduate medical education.
 - Opportunity for $10,000 research seed grants.
 - Other duties as assigned by the Department.
 
- MD or DO degree.
 - Completion of an accredited residency program.
 - Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.
 - Eligibility for Michigan license.

- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
 - Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
 - Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
 - Performs in a tactful and professional manner

- Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs
 - Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families
 - Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
 - Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
 - Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care
 - Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
 - Orders studies, test and ancillary services
 - Documents all services in patient medical record
 - Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention
 - Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues
 - Participates in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements
 - Oversees mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff
 - Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients
 - Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
 - Demonstrates commitment to providing outstanding customer service to all customers in a manner reflective of our mission, values and customer service standards.
