Your expertise in statistics, data analysis, and quantitative reasoning will ensure that model outputs are accurate, insightful, and aligned with rigorous academic and applied standards. This role blends technical fluency with high-precision annotation and offers the opportunity to influence how AI understands and communicates statistical concepts.This is a contract remote position with variable time commitments. The services to be provided by the Contractor under this agreement are supplementary and not integral to the Handshake's primary business operations. The Contractor's services are distinct and separate from the core business activities of Handshake.Your role
- Use internal tools to evaluate AI-generated responses, especially in statistical, mathematical, and scientific domains.
- Analyze and improve AI outputs with a focus on statistical correctness, clarity, and pedagogical relevance.
- Curate, annotate, and refine datasets used in training and fine-tuning LLMs with statistical content.
- Identify edge cases, model limitations, and annotation inconsistencies related to statistical reasoning.
- Collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to iterate on feedback loops and model alignment strategies.
- MS or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Alternatively, 3+ years of experience working as a Statistician, Quantitative Analyst, or Data Scientist in research or applied settings.
- Strong command of inferential statistics, probability theory, statistical modeling, and hypothesis testing.
- Experience reviewing or writing statistical content, especially in an educational or technical setting.
- Excellent written communication skills-both technical exposition and explanatory writing.
- Ability to independently assess AI responses for statistical rigor and relevance.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and exercising sound judgment in annotation decisions.
- Publications or teaching experience in statistics, applied mathematics, or quantitative sciences.
- Experience with statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, Stata, SAS) in academic or industry settings.
- Background in education, tutoring, or curriculum development in quantitative subjects.
- Familiarity with generative AI models or prompt engineering.
- Experience in model evaluation, data labeling, or reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF).
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new skills and evolving requirements.
- Personal device must support Windows 10 or macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.
- Reliable access to a smartphone.
- Fully remote position.

- Not hiring in Wyoming or Illinois at this time.
- $40/hr - $70/hr
