Job description: SummaryThis position is located in the Fleet and Family Readiness Division at Navy Region Northwest, Naval Station Everett, Jim Creek Recreation Area. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks requiring moderately heavy physical effort.Overview
- Accepting applications
- Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc. Moves heavy boxes or cartons by hand, hand-truck, or dolly. Opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears. Stacks boxes and cartons where directed.
- Using a shovel, digs ditches where grading and sloping is not required. Fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
- Runs hand and powered lawnmowers which do not require very heavy physical effort.
- Clears small trees and bushes using hatchet, handsaw, or clipper.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as directed.
- May shovel snow, sand or dirt from sidewalks.
- Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage and trash.
- Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or using powered buffer.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation
- Must possess or be able to obtain a fork lift driver's license, first aid, and CPR certifications within the first 60 days of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Work indoors may expose the worker to drafts, noise, dust and dirt, and require standing on concrete floors for long periods. Special care is required to avoid serious injuries.
- Outdoor work is performed in all kinds of weather.
- Required to wear issued protective gear such as safety gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, boots, etc.
- Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within 30 days of employment is required.
