About the position
The Sales Support Specialist I position at Word & Brown Companies is a seasonal, fully remote role designed to enhance the efficiency of the Sales Department. The primary purpose of this position is to assist Sales Representatives with quotes, sales, and services related to small group and group-related products. The specialist will be responsible for reviewing group applications in accordance with carrier guidelines and will follow up with Brokers and Sales Representatives on pending items. During peak periods, mandatory overtime may be required to manage the increased workload effectively. In this role, the specialist will handle various essential functions, including managing the quoting process by reviewing quote requests for completeness and accuracy, assisting the sales team with quotes and services for group health and ancillary products, and ensuring proficiency in all relevant systems such as Orion, WBQuote, and Lite. The specialist will also create spreadsheets for both medical and ancillary market segments and process New Hire Worksheets. Additionally, the position involves administrative tasks such as scheduling enrollments, coordinating enrollment materials, and maintaining communication with brokers and clients to confirm plan choices and contributions. The specialist will assist with office reports, check requests, and vendor relations, as well as support payroll and timesheet processing. Underwriting responsibilities include answering pre-sale questions, verifying case submissions, and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external clients. The role also requires updating Salesforce with daily activities and managing account-related tickets for the sales team and brokers. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential, and the specialist may perform other business tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
Streamline workflow in the Sales Department and assist Sales Reps with quotes, sales, and services of small group and group-related products.

Review group applications based on carrier guidelines.

Follow up with Brokers and Sales Reps for pending items.

Assist with quoting by reviewing quote requests for required information and overseeing submission from Shared Services.

Report quote errors to the Regional Vice President (RVP).

Assist sales teams with quotes, sales, and services of group health and ancillary products.

Create spreadsheets for medical and ancillary market segments.

Process New Hire Worksheets and assist with scheduling enrollments.
,
Contact brokers and clients to set up enrollments and confirm plan choices.
,
Update quotes to reflect plan selections and contributions.
,
Assist with office reports, check requests, and vendor relations.

Schedule meetings with carriers, vendors, and internal teams.

Partner with RVP on payroll, timesheets, and PTO management.
,
Assist with ordering supplies and preparing materials for seminars and broker events.

Answer pre-sale underwriting questions and scrub new case submissions for deal killers.

Verify case submission completeness and review pending items for accuracy.

Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Update Salesforce with daily activities and manage account-related tickets.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.

1-2 years of experience with group insurance preferred.

1 year of sales support experience preferred.
,
1 year of sales administration experience preferred.

1 year of office experience required.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Strong people skills and phone etiquette.

Possess a current valid driver's license and insurance, along with reliable transportation.
