The Sr. Manager - Solution Architecture - Edge Computing is responsible for leading a team of senior pre-sales architects who are subject matter experts in mobile, IOT, 4G/5G, Security, Cloud and Edge Computing solutions. They also have expertise in particular industry verticals (e.g., Financial Services, Manufacturing, Retail, Healthcare) with their key use cases (e.g., Analytics, Warehousing, Logistics).
- The focus of the team is to support the emerging Edge Computing product launches, field education, customer pilots, and customer briefings to support widespread adoption and scale of these technologies. As experts in Edge computing architectures, the team is responsible for developing an Edge Computing solution architecture competency across the Verizon Business Group. The team defines the subject domain standards, learning environments, experience management forums, as well as defining customer transformation pathways to the Edge Computing solutions. In this role, the Sr. Manager will work closely with Verizon sales and pre-sales leaders, as well as product management, product marketing, and partners to drive the Edge Computing services into the field. Other responsibilities associated with this role include:
- Clearly articulating Verizon 2.0 strategy and aligning team goals and expectations accordingly so the team understands personal impact on success of the organization.
- Managing Edge Computing team activity, overseeing programs, and prioritizing resources for maximizing sales and revenue results.
- Aligning the team with field pre-sales organizations to participate in regular cadence facilitating solution competency and positioning Edge Computing messaging framework in order to maximize sales opportunities.
- Providing program and network tower updates, results, sharing best practices, use cases, and soliciting feedback on programs.
- Actively participating in sales funnel activity collaboration and forecasts with pre-sales and solution teams.
- Supporting team to bring closure to sales opportunities and win deals.
- Working with field enablement teams and marketing to continually customize use cases, messaging, targeted personas, playbooks, and sales approaches for market segments based on real examples from sales teams.
- Creating safe environments for individual suggestions and collaboration, encouraging and motivating team members to share ideas and opportunities, try new ways to solve problems, capture market opportunities, and grow revenues.
- Identifying opportunities for more effective technical support to field-based technical teams.
- Monitoring and redirecting efforts and resources as appropriate to maximize sales results.
- Interfacing directly with client personnel at all levels as required to provide consistent, high-quality technical support, and to develop sales/service opportunities.
- Looking for opportunities to reduce costs and increase productivity.
- Participating in executive briefings and customer presentations.
- Conducting periodic operations reviews with SAs to maintain a focus and cadence on excellence.
- Focusing on expanding the team and recruiting highly talented professionals inside/outside of Verizon. Creating development plans customized to team member needs in order to help with professional growth and future promotion opportunities.
- Providing weekly personal feedback and coaching in one-on-one sessions with team members collaborating with them to solve issues and capture opportunities.

What we're looking for...
- You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Six or more years of experience in enterprise technical sales and/or solutions in a client-facing or IT staff role (including working as a member of a professional services or IT engineering team).
- Six or more years of experience managing high-performance technical teams and senior technical teams.
- Six or more years of experience with Cloud, Edge and other emerging technologies.
- Established industry relationships with system integrators, service providers, and other industry-related firms.
- Experience communicating effectively with a variety of professional audiences, including executive-level communications and experience creating proposals, designing summaries, and presentations.
- Client-facing experience with internal and external audiences at all levels of management.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Valid driver's license.
- Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- BA/BS degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent practical experience.
- MA/MS in business or technology field.
- Certifications in relevant industry technologies including Cloud technologies.
- Experience architecting IT infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
- Subject matter expertise and certifications in Software Defined Networks, Cloud, Security, or Unified Communications.
- Advanced design and experience in networking, applications, and security.
- Experience with large-scale outsourcing/out-tasking.
- Demonstrable leadership in the development of solution assets (e.g., presentations, demonstrations, videos, podcasts).
- Strong technical acumen in software-defined networking, cloud delivery models, IOT, and emerging 5G technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of key solution objectives in regards to business outcomes, value proposition, total cost of ownership, return on investment, and process improvement.
