The Companion Animal Hospital Small Animal Surgery service at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) has an immediate opening for a Licensed Veterinary Technician Section Supervisor.
- You will be part of an international team of board-certified veterinary Surgical faculty, and will work with residents, students, and manage the licensed veterinary technicians (LVT) and operating rooms to provide high quality care for small animals.
- You will provide leadership, logistics support, and technical assistance for routine and complex appointments, case workups, and procedures.
- Lead, facilitate, schedule, review, and support the needs of the team of LVTs, support staff, and DVM student workers.
- Shape the future of veterinary care through practical instruction of diverse DVM students
- Liaison with other hospital services for efficient patient care and oversee diagnostic work-ups of patients
- Work with our inventory team to keep an up-to-date supply of specialized surgical tools and equipment
- Lead and manage workflow and efficiency projects for the surgery group
- Participate in cutting-edge veterinary research and clinical trials
- The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year.
- The majority of our teaching and routine care for this role occurs Monday through Friday, day shifts. Other hours, as determined by caseload and need, to include weekends and holidays (includes generous holiday pay) may be required.
- What qualifications are required?
- Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited institution and 2 to 4 years of LVT experience.
- New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in NYS.
- Leadership, management or supervisory experience highly preferred.
- Interest in on-going career growth and advanced skill development.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a busy, team-oriented clinical.
- VTS in Surgery will be considered a plus, but not required.
