Girl Up was founded by the United Nations Foundation in 2010. Girl Up USA is seeking an intern to learn about and support various projects across channels for Girl Up USA at-large. The Intern, Girl Up USA will support Girl Up USA’s communications efforts, social media channels, programs and events. The Intern for Girl Up USA will report to the Director, Girl Up USA and collaborate across Girl Up’s departments.

Essential Functions

Support the Girl Up USA team to accomplish goals determined by its youth leaders and Girl Up USA Director

Assist Girl Up’s Graphic Designer in creating, designing and applying graphics across Girl Up USA print resources and digital platforms as needed

Assist in the preparation and execution of Girl Up USA events, ranging from small group meetings to multi-day conferences

Assist with creation of program communication to Girl Up members, including Clubs, Coalition Leaders, and Teen Advisors

Brainstorm creative ideas for Girl Up USA’s social platforms, virtual event branding, and merchandise design

Assist with updating Girl Up USA community platform as needed

Assist in template document and resource creation (i.e. presentation decks, one-pagers)

Advocate and contribute a unique perspective on issues girls 13-24 are facing currently

Take quality notes and be able to translate team directives into completed projects

Assist in video production design as needed

Support additional projects and tasks as needed

Selection Criteria

Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.

Communication, Graphic Design, Programs and Political Science degrees preferred

Applicant should have experience organizing 100+ people for action

Experience designing for digital platforms and web are preferred (Adobe Creative Suit, Canva)

Asana experience a plus

Strong oral and written communications skills

Some video editing experience preferred

Commitment to cross-cultural communication

Excellent creative vision, attention to detail, and ability to think outside the box

This is a remote position

A design assessment is part of the recruitment process for this role

Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy

Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week
