About the Internship
Are you a strong writer with a passion for storytelling, learning and travel? Interested in a career in marketing or communications after graduation? Curious what it’s like to work for a nonprofit? Join the Communications team at Road Scholar — a nonprofit leader in educational travel for older adults — for a fall internship and gain hands-on experience writing compelling content for blogs, emails, catalogs and more.
You’ll collaborate with a creative team of writers and designers, learn how to shape a consistent brand voice and build a portfolio of published work that includes both print and electronic materials. Early on, you’ll explore a range of writing projects. Then, with support from our team, you’ll focus on 1–2 key areas to develop deeper skills in that medium. By the end of your internship, you’ll have several polished pieces for your portfolio — and a better sense of what kind of writing you love most.

Your goal is to make it clear, engaging and on-brand: Road Scholar offers a lot of trips and programs for people who want to go places and learn about stuff. These experiences are very educational and fun, and you’ll probably make new friends too. You can travel by bus, boat, or sometimes even on foot, depending on the trip. The programs are good for older people because they’re not too hard but still have interesting activities.
