Position Type: Elementary School Teaching: Bilingual Spanish Date Posted: September 21, 2023 Location: Woodland Intermediate School Date Available: September 22, 2023 QUALIFICATIONS License/Certification: Illinois Professional Educator or Transitional Bilingual Educator License valid for Grades 1-3 with Spanish Bilingual approval or endorsement Education: Required - Master's Degree Preferred - Master's Degree in Reading or Bilingual Education Experience - Required - 3-5 years teaching experience - Preferred - 3-5 years teaching experience in an elementary school and/or bilingual classroom(s). ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develops programs and activities related to student needs and capabilities 2. Plans and implements a program for students reading below grade level to include identification of students for program and scheduling of students for program 3. Has command of the subject(s) content and effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core State Standards 4. Uses a variety of instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of the students 5. Adheres to the guidelines outlined in the Woodland School District 50 Staff Handbook 6. Contributes and models a positive school climate through the support of the district?s Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program 7. Orders materials and supplies as per district procedures, with appropriate authorization and within budgetary constraints 8. Collaborates with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs 9. Meets and instructs assigned classes in locations and at the times assigned 10. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property; keeps supplies in good working condition, is responsible for all materials as well as manages repair of equipment 11. Collaborates as needed with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions 12. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests 13. Utilizes Response to Intervention (RtI) to assist in reviewing data, determining academic needs, setting appropriate goals and implementing interventions for students 14. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly, productive environment 15. Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading support to students who are reading below grade level 16. Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records of student attendance, projects, and grades 17. Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students? levels and rates of progress 18. Gathers and maintains up-to-date records of student grades and assessment data to assist in the placement of students 19. Administers state and local standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and area of need 20. Attends and participates in team, department, faculty meetings, and professional development 21. Keeps up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and makes relevant changes to instructional plan and activities to meet the needs of all students 22. Adheres to all school and district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality 23. Maintains appropriate progress monitoring to assess effectiveness of the Bridges program 24. Performs other such duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the School Principal/Assistant Principal, or Director of Language Acquisition. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Planning and Preparation ? Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy, students, and resources. Design coherent instruction and select appropriate instructional activities, and has the ability to assess students learning. Classroom Environment ? Creates an environment of respect and report, establishes a culture for learning, manages classroom procedures, manages students behavior, and has the ability to organize physical space. Instruction ? Communicates clearly and accurately, uses questioning and discussion techniques, engages students in learning, provides feedback to students, and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness. Professional Responsibility ? Reflects on teaching, maintains accurate records, communicates professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and develops professionally, and shows professionalism. Technical: Competent in digital environments; Chromebooks, databases, spreadsheets, publishing software, Microsoft Office, Google applications etc. Interpersonal: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, businesses and community. Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Empathetic, humanistic and open-minded. Strong sense of teamwork. Strategic thinker. Must be able to work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff in both English and Spanish.
