Job Description Summary The Department of Humanities at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in Francophone Language, Literature, & Culture to begin August 2023. Candidates should have a record of excellent teaching and scholarly work in teaching French language, literature, and culture at all levels. This position will assist with student placement and advising; collaborate in materials, curriculum, and online course development; and coordinate conversation and lab activities. The department's faculty teach and engage in research that both shapes and benefits from a rich multi-disciplinary environment. The preferred candidate has expertise in second language acquisition, and digital media in the classroom. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the university level, evidence of continuing professional development, and native or near-native fluency in French. M.A. in French or a closely related field is required. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) M.A. in French or a closely related field, or equivalent degree by August 1, 2023. Required Experience (minimum requirements) A record of excellent teaching and scholarly work in francophone literature & culture, broadly defined. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the university level and evidence of continuing professional development. Desirable Education and/or Experience Film/Cinema background, broadly defined as world cinema Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements) Native or near-native fluency in French The preferred candidate has expertise in second language acquisition, and digital media in the classroom. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
