Asst Dir Student Support Serv
About the position
Responsibilities
• Assist the Project Director in managing the Student Support Services (SSS) Program.
• Provide one-on-one advising for approximately 60% of the total SSS participant population.
• Provide referrals and connections to additional services available on campus.
• Assist students in navigating the University system.
• Model and instruct students on effective communication with faculty.
• Coordinate and facilitate workshops on study skills and related topics.
• Maintain a regular schedule of counseling, registration, and student educational plan appointments.
• Provide feedback to the Director concerning student needs and outcomes.
• Assist in the compilation, documentation, and submission of required reports.
• Coordinate professional tutoring and supplemental instruction, and supervise the Peer Coach Program.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Education, or related field.
• Minimum of two years' relevant experience in a higher education environment, including advising, career counseling, teaching, or personal counseling experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
• Knowledge of issues related to academically at-risk students, especially first-generation, disabled, and/or low-income students.
• Basic technological literacy and proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
