About the position
eSpelman is committed to educating working adults and empowering them with the knowledge to succeed in an array of in-demand professional fields. The eSpelman online certificate programs enroll students of all genders and backgrounds, extending the magic of Spelman College as the No. 1 HBCU beyond the campus gate. As an eSpelman Online Instructor for the Business Communication Program, you will be responsible for teaching courses such as Strategic Communication Management and The Art of The Pitch. This role requires a dedication to excellence in teaching and a commitment to enhancing the academic environment for students and colleagues. In this position, you will adapt your teaching, advising, and coaching methodologies to meet the needs of working adult learners. You will communicate subject matter clearly and effectively, providing constructive and timely feedback to assist adult learners in achieving course objectives and learning outcomes. Engaging students in building a supportive online learning community is essential, as is motivating them to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process. You will also assist in conducting course reviews, student learning outcomes assessments, and program reviews, demonstrating a commitment to professional development through participation in conferences, workshops, and scholarly activities. Additionally, you will participate in eSpelman hosted meetings, orientations, and training, ensuring you remain engaged with the Spelman community. Timely record-keeping obligations, such as grades and attendance, must be met in accordance with eSpelman policies. Other duties may be outlined within the teaching agreement, and a collaborative spirit is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
• Teach courses in the assigned discipline by adapting teaching, advising, and coaching methodologies for working adult learners.

• Provide constructive and timely feedback to assist adult learners in achieving completion of course objectives and learning outcomes.

• Motivate adult learners to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.

• Engage adult learners in building a supportive online learning community.

• Assist in conducting course review, student learning outcomes assessment, and program review.

• Demonstrate commitment to professional development, including participating in professional conferences, workshops, seminars, and conducting research projects.

• Participate in eSpelman hosted meetings, orientations, training, etc., and stay engaged with the Spelman community.

• Meet record-keeping obligations on time in accordance with eSpelman policies, e.g., grades, attendance, reports, etc.

• Perform other duties as outlined within the teaching agreement.
Requirements
• A minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, and Business Communication) at the time of application.

• Demonstrate a strong record and aptitude of online teaching and adult education.
,
• Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
,
• Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects/courses simultaneously.
,
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and professional staff.

• Proficient and functional knowledge of Canvas, video conferencing and other educational technologies, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
