OSFM is recruiting for an Accountant (Accountant 1). As the Accountant, you will act as the consulting accountant for the Department of the Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) to prepare accounting, process, record, report, and reconcile monetary transactions for the agency, as well as its external customers. Responsibilities • Prepare accounting, process, record, report, and reconcile monetary transactions for the agency and its external customers. Requirements • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate; OR , • A bachelor's degree in accounting; OR , • Successful completion of the State of Oregon Accounting Career Mobility Program or equivalent accounting certificate program from an accredited college or university; OR , • 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution AND two years of technical, para-professional accounting experience. Nice-to-haves • Strong communication and customer service skills including the ability to explain accounting concepts and funding implications to a diverse audience. , • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board standards (GASB), Statewide Financial Reporting (SFR), and the Oregon Accounting Manual. , • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Excel. , • Experience with statewide software; SFMA, OBIEE. , • Experience following procedures closely, recording entries, and processing receivable and payables while maintaining accurate attention to detail. , • Ability to work collaboratively and independently while promoting a healthy team environment.
