Application Architect

PlanIT Group is seeking (3) Application Architects (Mainframe Modernization ) to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will have or previously have had an Active IRS MBI Clearance (Highly Desirable). Provide support and assistance to design, development, integrate, test, and deploy a modernized BMF platform and support day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) work based on IRS priorities. Provide for project management, O&M, development, modernization, enhancements, software development, legislative changes, and developmental O&M upgrades. Job Title: (3) Application Architects (Mainframe Modernization) Labor Category Architect IV Location: Remote Anticipated Start Date: 05/01/24 Duration: 4/21/2029 Education Requirement : Must have a bachelor's degree Project: Business Master File Modernization (BMF Mod) is one of multiple programs created to modernize the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) the legacy Tax processing systems and is critical to the IRS IT Application Development (AD) and IRS IT Enterprise Service (ES) organizations' goal to support the objectives of the IRS IT Modernization Business Plan. BMF Mod's initiative will modernize IRS systems and processes, improve taxpayer experience, increase voluntary compliance, and reduce the Service's reliance on costly and unsustainable legacy technology. Task Description: Provide support and assistance to design, development, integrate, test, and deploy a modernized BMF platform and support day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) work based on IRS priorities. Provide for project management, O&M, development, modernization, enhancements, software development, legislative changes, and developmental O&M upgrades. Required skills/Level of Experience: At least 15 years of experience with Architectural frameworks and how to design applications Experience developing physical and logical architecture, leveraging client template/process At least 15 years of work experience demonstrating knowledge of z/OS, Assembly Language, DB2, QSAM, IMS, CA Endevor, BMC Control-M, JCL and other core IBM mainframe technologies. Nice to have skills: Active IRS MBI Clearance Highly Desirable Required Skills: Java, Mainframe programming and Migration Z/OS Understanding Modernization Approaches Understanding Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure) Understanding Application analysis tools Strong communication skills.
