About the position Responsibilities • Request data from the attendance office to identify students with patterns of absenteeism or tardiness. • Identify, connect, and build relationships of trust with the student and family community. • Attend and participate in community events for students and families. • Connect with District staff to identify strategies to reduce tardiness and improve academic performance for identified students. • Intervene with strategies to reduce tardiness and improve academic performance for identified students. • Work with teachers to understand the student's needs. • Coordinate with counselor and other school specialists to find appropriate services to meet the identified needs. • Connect students and families to District staff to coordinate resources provided to the school site and community. • Connect parents to resources for developing skills to support the social/academic needs of students. • Develop positive relationships with families, District staff, and community organizations to provide academic and social supports for students. • Attend and network with families during parent connection efforts, such as Open House, student-led conferences, parent workshops, and community events. • Gain knowledge of the College Bound Scholarship program and support students through the enrollment process. • Gather information about the impact of interventions and make adjustments when necessary. • Willingness to work before or after school hours, when necessary. Requirements • GED or high school diploma; some college preferred. • Demonstrated ability and proficiency to speak, write, comprehend, and translate both English and identified language. • Demonstrated ability to interact positively and professionally with a diverse group of students, parents, staff, and community members in a confidential manner. • Ability to relate positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. • Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive programs and activities. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both written and oral form. • Experience with computers and software such as Windows, Microsoft Office, and/or publishing software.
