Freelance Medical Writer/Reviewer – Hematology (Sickle Cell Disease Focus)
We are seeking a freelance medical writer or reviewer with professional experience in medical writing for the pharmaceutical marketing or healthcare advertising industry to support a short-term review project in the sickle cell disease category.
Project Overview:
This project involves reviewing a small number of educationally focused materials developed for a major pharmaceutical company. These materials are designed for healthcare professional (HCP) audiences and must meet high standards of scientific accuracy, citation alignment, and editorial quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review educational materials to ensure all clinical claims and statements are correctly supported by referenced journal citations
- Identify any discrepancies between source material and copy
- Provide clear, concise feedback to internal team members (via tracked changes/comments)
- Collaborate with other agency team members involved in medical writing, strategy, and editorial review
- Help ensure that the content is prepared for submission to the pharmaceutical client’s internal review committee (e.g., MLR)
Required Experience:
- Strong background in medical writing, medical review, or editorial work within a healthcare agency or pharma marketing environment
- Ability to interpret clinical journal articles and match references to copy accurately
- Deep familiarity with referencing standards (e.g., AMA style) and best practices in scientific communication
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience in hematology and/or sickle cell disease
- Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, nursing, or related fields
