We seek an experienced Software Engineer with specialized expertise in PowerBI development and business intelligence solutions to support VA's Financial Management System (FMS), Human Capital Management (HCM), or Secretary of VA / Congressional / Legal Affairs (SCLA). This role is critical to creating comprehensive dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions for systems. You will transform complex data into actionable insights that support decision-making and improve VA operations. In this role, you'll develop sophisticated business intelligence solutions that enable VA leadership and personnel to make data-driven decisions that enhance services to Veterans and improve operational efficiency across the organization. Key Responsibilities • PowerBI Development: Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive PowerBI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions that provide actionable insights for VA stakeholders. • Data Modeling: Create robust data models and relationships that support complex reporting requirements and ensure data accuracy and performance. • Report Development: Develop interactive reports and visualizations that communicate key performance indicators and business metrics effectively. • Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources including SQL Server, Oracle, and web services to create comprehensive analytics solutions. • Dashboard Design: Create intuitive and user-friendly dashboards that enable stakeholders to monitor performance and identify trends. • Performance Optimization: Optimize PowerBI solutions for performance, including efficient DAX calculations and data refresh strategies. • User Training and Support: Provide training and support to end users on PowerBI solutions and self-service analytics capabilities. Required Experience and Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline • 4+ years of experience in PowerBI development and business intelligence solutions • Strong proficiency in PowerBI Desktop, PowerBI Service, and PowerBI Report Server • Advanced knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M Query language • Experience with data modeling and dimensional modeling concepts • Knowledge of SQL and database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle) • Understanding of data warehouse concepts and ETL processes • Experience with data visualization best practices and user experience design Preferred Experience and Certifications • Previous experience supporting VA systems or federal government reporting requirements • Microsoft PowerBI certifications (Data Analyst Associate, Expert) • Experience with Azure cloud services and PowerBI integration • Knowledge of human resources and supply chain management reporting requirements • Experience with other business intelligence tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.) • Understanding of federal compliance and data governance requirements Advanced Technical Skills: • Advanced PowerBI architecture and enterprise deployment strategies • Experience with PowerBI embedded solutions and custom development • Understanding of advanced analytics and machine learning integration with PowerBI • Knowledge of enterprise data governance and security implementation Job Type: Contract Pay: $44.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Education: • Bachelor's (Preferred) Experience: • Power BI Development: 4 years (Required) • Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle: 4 years (Required) • Data modeling and dimensional modeling concepts: 4 years (Preferred) • Power BI Reports: 4 years (Preferred) • Azure Cloud Service: 4 years (Preferred) • Power BI Integration: 4 years (Preferred) License/Certification: • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Expert (Preferred) Security clearance: • Confidential (Preferred) Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
