Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and engaging math tutor to work one-on-one with students in grades 6–12. The ideal candidate will not only have mastery of middle and high school math concepts (including advanced coursework) but also the ability to explain complex topics in ways that connect with students and spark enthusiasm for learning.
Schedule
• Flexible hours — scheduled individually with students
• Must have weekday afternoon/evening availability and some weekend availability
• Sessions are typically 1 hour each
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1-on-1 virtual math tutoring for students in grades 6–12
• Deliver clear, concise explanations of concepts, tailored to each student’s learning style
• Adapt instruction based on student progress and areas of need
• Prepare students for school coursework, exams, and standardized tests
• Track and report on student progress
• Communicate with parents and/or guardians as needed to discuss goals and progress
• Maintain professionalism and punctuality for all scheduled sessions
Technology Requirements
• Reliable high-speed internet
• Laptop or desktop with webcam and microphone
• Proficiency with Zoom and online collaborative tools (e.g., Google Classroom, TutorCruncher, digital whiteboards)
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or related field
• Demonstrated mastery of middle and high school math, including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and basic Calculus
• 3+ years of teaching or tutoring experience
• Ability to engage students in interactive, confidence-building math instruction
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Mathematics or Math Education
• Experience preparing students for SAT, ACT, or other standardized math tests
• Knowledge of AP-level coursework in Calculus, Statistics, or advanced math topics
• Experience working with diverse learning needs, including gifted learners and students who struggle with math anxiety
