AARP Georgia seeks a Communications Intern to create content, analyze digital metrics, and support community engagement in a paid, hybrid internship. Your Role Key responsibilities include: • Research federal issues and AARP initiatives, conduct interviews, and write social media, newsletter, and website content tailored to local audiences • Create graphics and copy for social media accounts • Attend events to produce content and photos for digital publications • Assist in writing press releases and media alerts, adapting national news releases with local relevance for local media • Collaborate on podcast production, including scheduling guests and developing interview questions About You What you'll need: • Enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program as a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student, with continuous academic enrollment throughout the internship • Pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field • Excellent news and feature story writing skills, coachable and open to editorial guidance • Proficiency in Associated Press Style Guidelines • Self-starter with adaptability and ability to work under tight deadlines • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate needs, and prioritize work • Ability to work well with diverse populations including gender, race, and sexual orientation • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva • Familiarity with video creation/editing and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus • Regular and reliable attendance, professional respect for others, independent judgment, and ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds • Must be able to work in a hybrid environment with remote work limited to the U.S. and its territories • AARP will not sponsor employment visas for this position Compensation & Benefits • Hourly pay: $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates • Paid internship, non-exempt position without employee benefits • Hybrid work environment with remote work on Mondays and Fridays except for essential functions Training & Development • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communications, storytelling, digital media, and event coverage • Work on real-world projects including writing, social media content creation, digital metrics analysis, and podcast production Career Progression • Potential to extend internship beyond Fall 2025 semester based on performance and organizational needs How to Apply • Submit your application through the provided link, ensuring all required information is included.
