Join American Express as a Senior Risk Management Analyst and be part of a global team that's shaping the future of risk management. As a Senior Risk Management Analyst, you will play a critical role in identifying and managing credit risk across all processes and geographies at American Express. This is a fully remote opportunity that offers a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package, with a salary range of $55,000 to $105,000 annually.

We're looking for a talented and experienced risk management professional to join our Credit Risk Oversight team within Global Risk & Compliance (GRC). As a Senior Risk Management Analyst, you will conduct independent portfolio monitoring and credit risk assessments, develop and maintain automated monitoring rules, review credit risk processes, and participate in projects that provide effective challenge to 1st line credit risk teams.

About the Role:

The Credit Risk Oversight team is responsible for identifying and managing credit risk across all processes and geographies at American Express. As a Senior Risk Management Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work with and impact numerous diverse businesses at American Express, and develop a deep understanding of the key principles of institutional credit risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent portfolio monitoring and credit risk assessments
  • Develop and maintain automated monitoring rules
  • Review credit risk processes and participate in projects that provide effective challenge to 1st line credit risk teams
  • Analyze trends in charge and lending portfolios and conduct deep dive analysis to understand key drivers
  • Support the development of next-generation risk capabilities
  • Produce credit risk dashboards for AXP Risk Committees, including tracking risk appetite metrics

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of credit experience in banking, credit risk management, or review experience
  • Knowledge of financial statement analysis, including an understanding of key financial ratios
  • Familiarity with banking regulations, particularly those imposed by OCC and Federal Reserve
  • Knowledge of macroeconomic trends and their impact on borrower repayment
  • Analytical skills and business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective
  • Experience with data-driven analytical tools (e.g., SQL, SAS, HIVE/HADOOP, R, Python)
  • Ability to clearly communicate findings to credit risk peers, business partners, and senior leaders
  • Bachelor's degree with a degree (or substantial coursework) in finance, accounting, economics, or statistics
