Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Editorial Assistant to join the Eberly College of Science's Office of Communications team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the college's branding and storytelling efforts. This is a permanent part-time position (averaging 20-24 hours a week) with the flexibility to work in a remote/hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit, fact-check, and coordinate the production and distribution of articles, feature stories, promotional materials, newsletters, and other publications created by the college's Office of Communications.
  • Ensure that all promotional materials meet University editorial style and branding guidelines as the college's University editor system representative.
  • Review and approve information submitted for inclusion on the college events calendar and posting to the college website.
  • Conduct benchmarking, background research, and information gathering for priority college communications and talking points.

Requirements:

  • Proven editing and proofreading experience with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a dynamic team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate in a positive, professional, and collaborative manner with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Degree and/or experience in an English, journalism, or communications-related field (highly desirable).
  • Strong familiarity with Associated Press, Chicago Manual of Style, and University editorial style and branding guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and InDesign, and Canva (desired).
