Entry-Level Programmer (Remote)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Programmer to join our team in supporting the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) through our upcoming IDIQ contract. As an Entry-Level Programmer, you will play a key role in contributing to data processing, data management, and basic analytic tasks that drive high-priority Medicaid and CHIP policy research projects. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in health policy data analysis within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data processing and data management tasks to support policy analysis projects, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Assist in cleaning, transforming, and managing large datasets, including survey or administrative data, to support project needs.
  • Develop and maintain basic programming scripts and workflows in statistical or programming languages, such as SAS, Stata, R, or Python.
  • Support the preparation of tables, charts, and data visualizations for technical reports and presentations, communicating complex data insights effectively.
  • Document programming processes and contribute to quality assurance and data validation activities, ensuring the highest standards of data quality.
  • Collaborate with senior programmers, analysts, and researchers to support project needs, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, public health, social science, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of data processing experience or completion of a relevant degree program.
  • Basic proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used for data analysis (e.g., SAS, Stata, R, or Python).
  • Familiarity with data management concepts and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to data quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Medicaid or CHIP data or public health datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid/CHIP policy or public health topics.
  • Previous experience supporting federal or state government contracts is a plus.
