As a Senior Apple Hardware Validation Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Apple's groundbreaking products. You'll be working alongside a talented group of software and hardware engineers with diverse backgrounds spanning cellular modems, connectivity solutions, tool drivers, CPUs and caching, kernel programming, and embedded systems. As a key member of the Silicon Validation team, you'll be responsible for defining and expanding test coverage to evaluate functional blocks and debug silicon issues. Your work will directly influence the success of Apple's future products, from initial concept to market launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Plan Development & Execution: Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of Apple's hardware components and systems.
  • Hardware/Software Interaction: Investigate and troubleshoot interactions between hardware and software, identifying and resolving issues that impact system stability and performance.
  • Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to improve test efficiency and coverage.
  • Debugging & Root Cause Analysis: Utilize industry-standard debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers) to identify and diagnose hardware and software defects. Perform root cause analysis and develop effective solutions.
  • Schematic & Documentation Review: Analyze schematics, block diagrams, and other technical documentation to understand system architecture and identify potential validation challenges.
  • Pre-Silicon Validation: Collaborate with hardware layout engineers to debug silicon issues uncovered during validation. Contribute to pre-silicon testing and validation efforts.
  • Performance Analysis & Optimization: Analyze test results to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand product requirements and ensure successful validation. Clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve test methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Maintain and enhance existing test infrastructure and test environments.

Key Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of SoC/FPGAs architecture and silicon micro-structure.
  • Proven experience in writing and debugging embedded software test scripts.
  • Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction principles.
  • Solid understanding of timing evaluation, state-machine debugging, and/or real-time memory systems and communication interfaces.
  • Familiarity with Mac and protocol specifications for digital interfaces (e.g., USB, PCIe, Ethernet).
  • Experience in crafting tests to target specific portions of silicon designs and virtual interconnects.
  • Proficient in using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers) for debugging.
  • Ability to interpret and navigate schematics and block diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach to troubleshooting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in hardware validation or hardware testing.
