As the Senior Director of Global Coffee Analytics & Insights, you will be a strategic leader responsible for guiding data-driven decision-making across our entire global green coffee value chain. You will leverage advanced analytical techniques to extract meaningful insights, predict future trends, and drive impactful improvements in our sourcing, quality, and operational efficiency. This is a unique opportunity to partner with diverse cross-functional teams, influence key business strategies, and contribute directly to Starbucks' continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Vision: Define and champion the global coffee analytics strategy, aligning it with overall business objectives and identifying new opportunities for data-driven innovation.
- Advanced Analytics & Insights Generation: Lead the development and execution of advanced analytical models, including predictive analytics, forecasting, and statistical analysis, to address critical business challenges and opportunities related to green coffee sourcing, quality, and supply chain.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across various teams (e.g., sourcing, supply chain, quality, trading, and product development) to understand their needs, translate them into actionable analytical projects, and ensure seamless integration of data insights into operational strategies.
- Predictive Modeling & Forecasting: Develop and refine sophisticated predictive models to anticipate future trends, optimize inventory management, mitigate risks, and drive proactive decision-making regarding global green coffee storage, quality improvements, and resource allocation.
- Performance Reporting & Communication: Design and deliver timely, insightful business metric reports and dashboards to communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytical findings to executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Data Storytelling & Influence: Effectively communicate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations, influencing strategic decisions and driving positive business outcomes.
- Business Problem Definition: Partner with business partners to identify and frame key business questions, translating them into well-defined analytical problems with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
- Team Leadership & Development: Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to a high-performing team of data analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, and proactively identify opportunities to leverage these technologies to enhance our analytical capabilities.
- Data Governance & Quality: Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data used for analysis, and promote best practices in data governance and quality management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Planning, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, with a proven track record of delivering impactful data-driven solutions.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Demonstrated experience in project and/or program management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary business principles and practices, with the ability to apply analytical insights to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.
- Practical experience with a range of Modeling & Machine Learning techniques (e.g., regression, tree models, survival analysis, cluster analysis, forecasting, anomaly detection, association rules).
- Experience with data ETL processes and tools (e.g., Oracle, SQL).
- Experience with big data processing techniques is highly preferred.
