Job description: Overview As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be responsible for the technical documentation of a wide variety of internal processes and procedures. Activities will include work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), production processes, security handing procedures, and governance documents as well as quality assurance activities and training materials, this job includes both writing and content generation, as well as editing documents. The candidate is expected to have experience with gathering data from analysts and other stakeholders to create technical documentation for mission partners. The candidate will typically oversee all aspects of the project, leading a team on large projects or a significant segment of large and complex projects. The candidate will also be expected to analyze new and complex project-related problems and create innovative solutions that normally will involve the schedule, technology, methodology, tools, solution components, and financial management of the project. Additionally, the candidate will provide applications systems analysis and long and short-range plans for application selection, systems development, systems maintenance, and production activities for necessary support resources. Duties & Responsibilities • Responsible for knowing and having a working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF). • Responsible for the preparation, editorial review, revision, and maintenance of documents including technical white papers, cyber security assessments, architecture analysis documentation, senior management briefings, and status reports. • Searching key terms in various reporting repositories, reading each report for relevance, and recording pertinent information to be synthesized upon completion. • Deliver training based on schedule every month – reach out to other team leads and obtain proposed training needs. • Establish inroads with the customer to ensure all materials are compliant with all applicable policies and procedures. • Where necessary, update Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates to ensure ease of use and functional capability in support of the respective project team members. • Review and ensure accuracy of the Weekly Training Brief (inspect for accuracy of briefing against real progress and artifacts). • Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides and manuals, and technical publications. • Complete weekly updates to the PMR tracker/metrics, as well as inspect/confirm/approve input to weekly schedule updates for accuracy. • Work with subject matter experts to gather technical information required in the preparation of documents. • Inspect all training deliverables prior to submitting to DM/PM; ensuring that the quality design and delivery of all training activities and artifacts are of the appropriate quality. • Research highly technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources and prepare incident reports, responses, and briefings comprehensible to a wide audience of readers. • Coordinates the display of related graphics and/or utilizes supplemental images, drawings, diagrams to illustrate material as needed. • Maintains adherence to project schedules and target dates. • Prepare detailed presentations and cybersecurity reports to senior leadership • Responsible for process development and diagram creation for the cyber security team. • Coordinate with Client to define training backlog and schedule for development of new training, updates to existing training, training communications, and training deliveries to include at a minimum: • Tailored training for all cybersecurity roles; • Update to annual online IT security training required for all network users; • Refresh of existing courses; • Additional new security related courses to be developed; • Short courses for Cyber Ambassadors; • Ad hoc training to address newly identified security and acquisition related issues as they arise; and • Training flyers and posters. • Assist Client in developing, refining, and delivering tailored training based on established backlog and schedule. • Provide graphics support in development of training slides, training aids, flyers, posters, etc. • In view of the remote nature of the contract, an individual Weekly Status Report and Weekly Status Reports Briefing are it is required deliverables for tasks assigned. The resources must have the ability to effectively develop weekly status reports, that are consistent, well structured, answer to all the assigned management templates guidelines, are in alignment with the task area of support, and are relevant to the reporting period. At a minimum the weekly status report should reflect the following: • Weekly work accomplished • 2 weeks of ongoing and planned tasks • Risks, and issues impacting tasks assigned. • The report format will be primarily MS PowerPoint and MS Project (or other MS tools as required by the management team). • All Deliverables shall be at a level of accuracy that does not require "return for correction" for typographical and grammatical errors. (Repetitive requests for correction by the management or Government team may result in a determination of failing to meet the basic standards for professional writing, reporting, accuracy, quality, and completeness of the contractual requirements for deliverables.) • Must have the ability to prepare to present, brief, and explain; all information captured in weekly status report to management and/or government client. Required Qualifications • Advance knowledge in technical writing experience to prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical document. • Prior experience developing Security related training and instructor-led and online training, videos, and job aids. • Experience communicating effectively, both oral and written with technical and non-technical and executive-level customers. • Proficiency with workflow development and graphical communication. • Excellent organization, time management skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. • Experience with delivering face to face and virtual training to a wide variety of audiences. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams). • Experience with PowerPoint, visual representation and instructional design skills and understanding 508 compliances. • Proven ability to effectively prioritize deliverables and meet deadlines. • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Education and Experience • 10 years minimum of experience in training development and delivery or • A relevant master’s degree in IT, Computer Science Instructional Design or Education and 8 years of experience in training development and delivery. Clearance Level • Must have at least a Secret Level Security Clearance. Work Location • Remote is authorized and the location of performance is Springfield, VA, Annapolis Junction, MD and Freedom Center in Herndon, VA.
