Bookkeeper with Nonprofit Specialization
About UltraPrecise Bookkeeping
UltraPrecise Bookkeeping is a boutique virtual firm serving nonprofits, law firms, and other service based businesses with full-service bookkeeping, virtual controller, and CFO advisory services. We're a team of professionals who love clean books, efficient processes, and clients who value precision.
Our mission is simple: deliver impeccable, personalized financials while building long-term, trusted partnerships.
We offer an alternative to corporate accounting environments — no micromanagement, no bureaucracy, and no grind. Just meaningful work with a collaborative team that values autonomy, excellence, and mutual growth.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Nonprofit Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a well-rounded staff accountant with strong nonprofit experience, solid knowledge of accrual accounting, and a firm understanding of GAAP. You will manage full-cycle accounting across multiple client accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear financial reporting.
The right candidate will be confident working independently, detail-oriented in reconciling complex accounts, and comfortable communicating financial insights. You’ll also bring at least 5 years of experience in full-service bookkeeping or staff accounting, including at least 2 years working with nonprofits.
This is a full-time, remote position that offers stability, growth opportunities, and the chance to work with a collaborative team that values autonomy, accuracy, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bookkeeper at UltraPrecise, you will manage multiple nonprofit and for-profit client accounts, including:
• Managing client books using accrual-based accounting in QuickBooks Online
• Processing and coding expense documentation through Dext
• Managing AP workflows in Bill.com, including proper coding and approvals
• Categorizing transactions through QBO bank feeds
• Reconciling bank, credit card, and loan accounts
• Reviewing and correcting payroll entries
• Processing complex payrolls, including benefit allocations and accruals
• Preparing accruals and period-end adjusting entries
• Performing quality control on your own work and reviewing financial reports
• Communicating clearly with management regarding client status and accounting issues
• Contributing to SOPs and internal workflows as processes evolve
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications
• 5+ years of full-service accounting/bookkeeping experience
• 2+ years with QuickBooks Online (QBO ProAdvisor certification required)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting (must know how to handle accruals, prepaids, deferrals—not just say you do)
• Experience supporting nonprofits, including audit prep and fund accounting
• Confident communicator able to manage client relationships directly
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required)
• U.S. residency and ability to work EST hours
Bonus Experience
• Tools: Dext, Keeper, Karbon, Notion, Bill.com, Asana, Ignition, LastPass
• Preparing 1099s, sales tax filings, quarterly payroll returns
• Cleanup projects and QBO setup
What We Offer
• Long-term, secure W2 employment
• 100% remote work within 8 am–6 pm EST
• Supportive team culture with room to grow into controller or CFO-level work
• High-impact work with mission-driven clients who value excellence
• No micromanagement—just accountability, autonomy, and respect
