About the position
Responsibilities
• Transcribes dictation and formats reports according to established guidelines.
• Verifies patient information for accuracy and completeness.
• Recognizes and evaluates inconsistencies and discrepancies, revising or clarifying as needed.
• Maintains appropriate production and quality standards as defined by department policy and procedure.
• Prints and distributes work per procedure according to locations where typed.
• Operates and maintains transcription computer equipment, software, dictation equipment, photocopies, fax machine, and Hospital Information System.
• Communicates and collaborates with other team members to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
• Communicates unusual circumstances with possible risk factors to the manager.
Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of medical transcription experience or educational equivalent in a medical transcription program.
Nice-to-haves
• CRT-Medical Transcript (CMT) certification preferred.
