Financial Software Engineer
Our client a major international retail group known for its super-market chains and e-commerce platforms is looking to hire a Financial Software Engineer to join their team in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This is an initial 5-month hybrid contract opportunity.
As their Financial Software Engineer you will be designing, developing, and maintaining internal systems for departments like finance, HR, and marketing. Analyzing and improving programs, creating system logic, codes, tests, and debugs. Preparing implementation plans and documentation, recommends system improvements, and trains users during system rollouts.

Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and modify internal systems that support finance, HR, and marketing departments.
• Analyze existing programs and develop logic for new systems, including flowcharting, coding, testing, and debugging.
• Create and implement system conversion plans, ensuring smooth rollout and minimal business disruption.
• Prepare technical documentation and secure necessary approvals for system and programming changes.
• Train users on system functionality during implementation phases.
• Recommend improvements to development, maintenance, and system standards.
Qualifications:
Must-Have Skills:
ReconNet (or similar reconciliation tool):
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience with ReconNet, IntelliMatch, BlackLine, or similar tools.
• Expertise in rectype and security structure configuration.
• Report building and distribution.
• Strong understanding of reconciliation file/data structures.
• Familiarity with Universal File Processor (UFP): file definitions, conversions, and mappings.
Core Technical:
• Proficiency in C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC.
• Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Entity Framework.
• 5+ years of software development experience, ideally with financial reconciliation systems.
• Strong RDBMS and SQL querying experience.
• Bash and Windows scripting expertise for automation.
• Batch job creation and maintenance.
• Experience with Control-M job scheduling in mainframe/distributed environments.
Cloud, Tools & Compliance:
• Version control with Git/GitHub.
• Agile methodology (Scrum, Kanban) using Jira and Confluence.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure for application deployment.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory for SaaS authentication and access.
• Understanding of PCI 4.0 or ISO 27001 compliance standards.
• Familiarity with CipherTrust and secure access management.
• Experience with automated file transfer tools.
Preferred Skills:
• Power BI or Power Builder experience.
• Exposure to AI/ML tools such as OpenAI or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies.
