About the Role
As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and server software. You will work with Linux-based tools to troubleshoot hardware and community-associated troubles. Your experience in hardware, networking equipment, operating systems, and data center operations will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and lead efforts/tasks in the deployment, maintenance, and support of modern and new data center infrastructure.
- Participate in or lead troubleshooting and solve essential or escalated technical troubles.
- Test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs.
- Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS-associated troubles on servers.
- Deploy and maintain Google's advanced data center server and network infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster).
- Configure additional complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols.
- Participate in or lead small project teams on large installations and develop project contingency plans.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience troubleshooting hardware or community-associated troubles using Linux-based tools.
- Experience in hardware, networking equipment, operating systems, and data center operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a data center or network operation center environment.
- Experience with light coding or scripting.
