Launched in 2022, Chewy's Sponsored Ads platform has been a game-changer, enabling vendors to promote their products both on-site and offsite. Our team, based in Boston and Seattle, is dedicated to managing both customer-facing and vendor-facing experiences, blending a startup culture with operational excellence. As a Senior Front-End Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of this exciting journey, driving iterative development, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the platform's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering Projects and Mentoring: Take ownership of delivering projects, designing systems, and mentoring junior engineers to ensure the team's continued growth and success.
• Design, Development, and Implementation: Design, develop, and implement solutions using a variety of technologies, focusing on scalability, latency, and resiliency to drive the platform's performance.
• Estimation and Delivery: Own the team estimation process and deliver according to the estimates, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the required standard.
• Code Reviews and Feedback: Perform code reviews and provide meaningful feedback to other engineers on the team, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
• DevOps Practices: Apply DevOps practices to minimize technical debt and improve release cycles, ensuring the platform remains agile and responsive to changing needs.
• User Research and Enhancement: Participate in user research to understand customer needs and enhance our ad platform, driving user satisfaction and platform growth.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience), providing a solid foundation in software engineering principles.
• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, focusing on modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular), with a proven track record of building scalable, highly available systems.
• Ninja coding and debugging skills, with the ability to write clean, efficient code and debug complex issues.
• A passion for metrics and data-driven decision making, using data to inform design and development decisions.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• A solid understanding of CS fundamentals: object-oriented design, algorithms, and problem-solving, with the ability to apply these principles in real-world scenarios.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Experience in Ad Tech and/or e-commerce, providing a deeper understanding of the industry and its unique challenges.
• Experience with Scrum, XP, or other agile methodologies, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD), with a focus on writing robust, testable code.
• Familiarity with AWS, with knowledge of cloud-based services and their applications.
