Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lecturer in Engineering Design to join the SEED program. The successful candidate will teach the SEED course to senior undergraduate students in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, develop and improve the engineering design process, and support the project management framework. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design, practical industry experience, and a passion for teaching and mentoring students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach the Senior Experience in Engineering Design (SEED) course to senior undergraduate students in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
  • Develop and improve the engineering design process and project management framework
  • Support and mentor undergraduate students and SEED Design teams
  • Maintain and improve the SEED lab and purchasing system
  • Network with industry clients to find relevant projects for the SEED course
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Co-Instructor, Teaching Assistants, and purchasing specialist to deliver the SEED program
  • Advise and mentor students on their design projects
  • Participate in pedagogical development opportunities to enhance teaching skills

Essential Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Significant experience in teaching engineering design and practical engineering experience in industry
  • Strong knowledge of the engineering design process and project management frameworks
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work with diverse students and industry clients
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Experience with innovative pedagogical approaches and teaching technologies
  • Experience working with industry clients and developing industry partnerships
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices
  • Experience with curriculum development and program assessment
