Job Summary
As an Associate Counsel, PIP, you will play a critical role in defending lawsuits filed in Florida courts and other first-party insurance defense matters. You'll work closely with our Claims Department and other stakeholders to provide expert legal guidance and representation. Key Responsibilities
As an Associate Counsel, PIP, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda: You'll conduct thorough research and analysis of relevant laws and regulations to prepare high-quality legal documents.
 - Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value: You'll provide expert opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
 - Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery: You'll prepare and handle various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
 - Defending matters by trial or dispositive hearing: You'll represent GEICO in court and at hearings, advocating for our interests and defending our position.
 
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Essential Qualifications
- 2-6+ years of experience in related field litigation: You should have significant experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury litigation.
 - Juris Doctor degree: You must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
 - Admission to the Florida Bar: You must be admitted to the Florida Bar and licensed in good standing to practice law in Florida.
 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills: You should be able to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively in writing and in person.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Civil litigation experience: Experience in civil litigation is preferred.
 - Insurance defense-related litigation experience: Experience in insurance defense-related litigation is preferred.
 - Strong organizational and time management skills: You should be able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

- Competitive salary: Our salary range for this position is $102,000 - $159,000 per year.
