About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer at blithequark, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and executing ETL/ELT data pipelines, developing data set mappings, and building batch processes using Apache Airflow. You'll collaborate with our Studios and Project Technology colleagues to gather information requirements, validate data, and develop data pipelines across multiple environments, including DEV, QA/UAT, and Production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines using SQL, Python, and cloud-based technologies like AWS S3 and Snowflake.
  • Develop data set mappings, tables, and views to support business intelligence and data analytics initiatives.
  • Build and manage batch processes using Apache Airflow to automate data workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information requirements and validate data.
  • Develop and implement data governance best practices to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Work with large datasets and big data technologies, including cloud-based solutions like Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Participate in driving best practices around data engineering software development processes.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with SQL and data modeling.
  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies, ideally AWS and S3.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, GitLab, Apache Airflow, AWS S3, and relational databases.
  • 2+ years of experience working with a cloud platform.
  • 2+ years of experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases.

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out from the crowd, you'll need:

  • Experience with Apache Airflow, GitLab, Snowflake, and Tableau.
  • A graduate degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the streaming, media, or digital marketing domain.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong data engineering skills, including data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based technologies, including AWS and S3.
  • Experience with big data technologies, including Snowflake and Databricks.
