About the Role – Preschool Food Prep Teacher Aide
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Preschool Food Prep Teacher Aide to join our team at the Delta Family Center. As a Preschool Food Prep Teacher Aide, you will play a critical role in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for preschool children, and will work closely with our team of educators and support staff to deliver high-quality educational programs and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for preschool children, where they can develop their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills
- Be accountable for the daily activity, care, and instruction of students, including personal care routines, academic instruction, and engaging, positive interactions with all students
- Interact with parents/caregivers in a positive manner, maintaining open and meaningful communication, including assisting with yearly Home Visits and Parent/Teacher Conferences
- Assist in the organization and implementation of developmentally appropriate, research-based curriculum, leading small and large group activities as directed
- Adhere to licensing rules and regulations for daily activities, including hand washing, transitions, teacher/child ratios, and classroom setup
- Fill in for the Lead Teacher during absences, directing substitutes in daily classroom routines
- Arrive to work on time and be prepared for the day's activities, integrating daily transition activities into classroom instruction using available resources and various modalities to meet children's individual needs
- Ensure the cafeteria area is cleaned after use, including wiping down tables, sweeping floors, and mopping up messes as needed
- Report daily attendance and lunch count to the front office, and monitor and engage with all children on playground duty, ensuring safety rules and regulations are followed
- Assist in classroom cleanup and preparation for next class activities, and assist as directed in Teaching Strategies GOLD checkpoint documentation for all children in the classroom
- Utilize and implement the Incredible Years Dinosaur School Social/Emotional Curriculum into weekly lesson plans, facilitating appropriate action items from the curriculum as needed, and seeking support through available coaching resources
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:
- Be willing to take the WorkKeys test or have 48 hours of college credits
- Have experience in a preschool classroom, or a related field
- Be able to work under the supervision of Backpack/BELA/Family Literacy coordinators
- Be able to be flexible with schedules and job assignments
- Be willing to attend conferences and trainings as required
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds or more
- Have excellent people skills and a strong work ethic that exemplifies enthusiasm, teamwork, and self-motivation
- Meet the Highly Qualified status, with a High School Diploma/GED and an Associate degree or 48 hours of college credit, or have passed the WorkKeys test
- Have fingerprint and background clearance
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to speak multiple languages
