Key Responsibilities
- Foster positive relationships between caregivers and individuals served, promoting a culture of trust, respect, and empathy.
- Ensure customer safety and maintain a safe environment, adhering to our high standards of care and support.
- Remind and assist clients with self-administration of medications (with proper training), and provide support with daily living tasks.
- Encourage self-help activities, promoting independence and confidence in our clients.
- Document services provided, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Perform home management functions, such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning, to create a comfortable and welcoming living environment.
- Plan meals, shop for groceries, prepare and serve food/meals, and clean up, promoting healthy eating habits and mealtime routines.
- Accompany clients to scheduled appointments and transport them to community activities, providing support and companionship.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing needs.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
- Clean, reliable vehicle
- Clear criminal history record
- Social Security Card or Birth Certificate
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Open and flexible availability, including willingness to work varied shifts and schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional caregiving or similar experience
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to caregiving
