Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Faculty Director to lead our Academic Success and Bar Readiness program. As a key member of our faculty, you will oversee the operations of the academic success and bar readiness department, teach bar readiness courses, and potentially a doctrinal course. You will collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement a comprehensive program that fosters academic excellence and supports students in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Office of Academic Success and Bar Readiness, including supervising Professors of Practice and managing the departmental budget
  • Teach bar readiness courses and potentially a doctrinal course, depending on mutual interest and need
  • Develop and implement effective academic success and bar readiness programming, in coordination with faculty members and administrative departments
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate academic and bar skills across the curriculum and law school
  • Provide regular updates and feedback regarding programming and student performance to the College of Law administration
  • Track and maintain records of academic counseling appointments and mandatory and voluntary programs
  • Work with both Day and Evening student cohorts, developing opportunities for in-person and online programming and feedback

Essential Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school
  • At least 5 years' experience in direct academic success work at the law school level and/or programming or individual tutoring with respect to bar readiness
  • Demonstrated ability to make use of student learning data resulting from regular formative and summative assessments
  • Demonstrated expertise with the adult learning process, particularly for diverse populations
  • Excellent academic and professional qualifications
  • Commitment to the goals of the College of Law and its curricular and instructional objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's level or higher degree in a field with transferable knowledge about adult learning
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating, presenting, and monitoring academic departmental budgets
  • Experience guiding and mentoring students to promote professional formation
  • Ability to supervise various departmental positions
