About the Role
The Data Engineering team at Blithequark is responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to develop and sustain various projects, prototypes, and research initiatives. As a Data Engineer, you will be working on the development and sustainment of products for our Media business. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and improving data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process monitoring strategies
- Data requirements gathering, source-to-target mapping, data validation scripting and review, data visualization, and creating and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines
- Designing and executing database schema/tables/views and delivering datasets as input to science models and visualizations
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer at Blithequark, you will be working on various tasks, including:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and architectures
- Collaborating with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and develop data products
- Ensuring data quality, integrity, and security across various systems and applications
- Troubleshooting data-related issues and optimizing data pipeline performance
- Staying up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and making recommendations for improvements
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and support
- Proven experience and skill using Python and SQL (ideally with Snowflake)
- Experience working in a multi-environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOP methodologies for code deployment/advancement
- Experience creating and maintaining automated work schedulers
- Strong understanding of relational database design and functionality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, ideally cloud-based, like Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
- Proficiency in cloud architecture and product offerings, ideally AWS
- Experience managing and delivering code using a source control tool like GitLab/GitHub
- Experience using Docker
