Role Overview The Assistant Communications Director is first and foremost a high-capacity, creative leader who LOVES JESUS and FOLLOWS HIM WHOLEHEARTEDLY! The ACD learns and understands COMMUNITY’s voice and visual presence. This role is responsible for overseeing and executing strategic, engaging, and brand-consistent digital content across platforms—including web, email, social media, video, and print. By leading digital excellence and training others in best practices, this position strengthens COMMUNITY’s reach and resonance both inside and outside the church.This is a hands-on role that balances strategy, content creation, trend awareness, and collaboration across ministry departments and campuses. With a heart for the mission and an eye for excellence, the Assistant Comms Director ensures that our digital presence reflects who we are and where we’re going as a church. Key Responsibilities Digital Content Leadership • Champion the digital brand identity and uphold a high standard of creative excellence across all channels. • Lead explorer and user of cutting edge AI tools to increase team effectiveness • Lead digital content strategy and execution for email, web, app, and video platforms. • Ensure all content is aligned with COMMUNITY’s voice and values. Train and equip staff members and volunteers in digital best practices and tools. Social Media Strategy & Management • Build and maintain an engaging, effective social media strategy. • Plan, write, design, and schedule content across channels (Instagram, Facebook, etc.). • Create and manage content calendars and respond to engagement (DMs, comments). • Collaborate with location representatives to coach and support local social strategy. • Lead COMMUNITY’s YouTube presence, including Shorts strategy, channel branding, and weekly content readiness. Platform Optimization and Analytics • Optimize content across platforms for SEO, SEM, and SMO to maximize impact and reach. (growing understanding acceptable) • Monitor and analyze analytics from Google, social platforms, and email campaigns to inform strategy. (growing understanding acceptable) • Work with Web Director to implement strategies • Adjust content strategies based on data to increase engagement and conversion. Cross Team Collaboration • Partner with ministries and departments to digitally promote events, initiatives, and resources. • Work closely with the CPC team, designers, and production to align visual and written messaging. • Collaborate weekly on slides, sermon assets, and Sunday communications. Volunteer Leadership Development • Recruit, equip, and develop a team of high-capacity volunteers to multiply digital impact. • Coach leaders at various locations in maintaining their digital presence and effectiveness. • Travel occasionally to locations for documentation and storytelling support. Creative Writing & Messaging • Lead and coach others in writing across platforms (email, in-service CTAs, etc.) in COMMUNITY’s voice. • Assist with CPC communications writing needs, ensuring clarity and alignment with messaging strategy. • Collaborate with CPC Director and Web Director to keep content on web and app updated. Print & Merch Coordination • Oversee strategy, design collaboration, and implementation of print and merch materials. • Work with the CPC team to produce resources that support central and local initiatives. • Support seasonal campaign launches, coordinating creative output across all mediums. Qualifications / Skills Technical & Creative Skills • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, FCP, DaVinci Resolve), Canva, and AI-assisted design tools • Skilled in video editing, photography, and digital graphics production • Growing knowledge of content management systems (CMS), SEO, and Google tools (Analytics, AdWords) • Growing expertise in online analytics and digital marketing strategies • Versatile across communication platforms, with a pulse on trends in social media, design, and emerging technologies • Forward thinker utilizing and leading the team in AI and other media and social media editing softwares Communication & Content Creation • Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities • Strong administrative and creative communication skills • Demonstrates excellence in layout, publishing, and storytelling for digital platforms Project Management & Work Ethic • Self-motivated with a drive for quality, efficiency, and innovation • Excellent project management and organizational skills • Ability to take a project from concept to completion independently • Flexible and deadline-oriented, with a high bar for excellence and attention to detail Team & Culture Fit • Excited about the mission of helping people find their way back to God! • Has an active and growing relationship with God • Team player who can also thrive independently • Sings loud in worship, even if you don't have the best voice What Success Looks Like • A cohesive, compelling digital presence that reflects COMMUNITY’s heart and mission. • Healthy collaboration across departments and locations. • An equipped volunteer team that multiplies digital capacity. • Measurable growth in engagement, reach, and digital impact.
