Purpose and Scope: Delivering Exceptional Customer Service

As a Seasonal Part-Time Customer Service Representative, you'll play a critical role in receiving, investigating, and responding to member inquiries, resolving problems and complaints in a timely and accurate manner. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our members while developing valuable skills and experience.

Job Specifics: Flexibility and Opportunity

This is a seasonal, part-time role that offers a flexible schedule with a total of 20 hours per week. You'll work on weekends, with two 8-hour shifts available:

  • Shift 1: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST
  • Shift 2: 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM EST

Additionally, you'll be scheduled for a 4-hour shift during peak business hours. The duration of this role is from October 2024 to January 2025, with no long-term planned time off during the assignment.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties: A Dynamic Role

As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for:

  • Answering and tracking telephone calls within established department standards
  • Tracking member calls within our database, ensuring concise and factual documentation
  • Understanding and processing various lines of business benefits, medical management processes, and demographic change processes
  • Answering "entry-level" claims inquiries and taking "Over the Counter" (OTC) orders
  • Processing "entry-level" enrollment and disenrollment procedures
  • Entering prospective members into our software database
  • Maintaining current source documents and reference documents
  • Interacting professionally with employees, customers, and suppliers
  • Working effectively as a team contributor while also working independently
  • Redirecting calls to the appropriate department as required

Customer Service: Driving the blithequark Culture

As a representative of blithequark, you'll be responsible for:

  • Driving our culture through values and customer service standards
  • Providing outstanding customer service to external and internal contacts
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships through effective communication
  • Taking initiative to respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues

Education, Experience, and Required Skills: The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • The ability to read and interpret documents, calculate figures and amounts
  • Strong typing skills (40-60 WPM)
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on professionalism, empathy, and effective communication
  • A self-driven attitude with a positive outlook, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy
  • The ability to follow directions, complete tasks accurately, and accept supervisory input
  • Proficient MS Office skills, including basic computer and keyboarding skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with good grammar, voice, and diction
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • A minimum of six months to one-year related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
